Ferry News May 24, 2019

Check out the May edition of Ferry Replacement News. Find out about ferry replacement project funding status and upcoming work that we need the public to be a part of.

Skagit County has hired BERK Consulting and KPFF (the consultant working with Whatcom County on their plans for replacement of the Lummi Island Ferry) to undertake an operations and service analysis that considers current and future ferry operations and service. The study will address staffing, ticketing, loading/unloading, vehicle queuing, parking and other items for the ferry system. BERK and KPFF will work with the County ferry staff, and seek feedback from the Guemes Island Ferry Committee and island residents for advisory purposes. There are two opportunities coming up to meet BERK and KPFF and discuss your ideas for ferry service improvement.

Public Works will meet with the Guemes Island Ferry Committee, BERK and KPFF; you are invited.

When: Thursday, June 13 at 4:00 p.m.

Where: Anacortes Library – 1220 10th St.

The Board of Skagit County Commissioners will host a community meeting with BERK and KPFF this summer; we hope to see you there.

When: Wednesday, July 17 at 6:00 p.m.

Where: Guemes Island Community Center – 7549 Guemes Island Road

We will also solicit input using the survey platform that riders used in 2017 to share feedback. Check out the results from the most recent ferry improvement survey at publicinput.com/1972/.
