Update 10.7.2018 4:37 PM

Sunday evening update:

The MV Guemes is still at Foss Shipyards in Seattle. Repairs are underway. Once the Guemes completes sea trials and passes US Coast Guard inspection, we expect that the vessel will return to service midweek.

Passenger-only service will continue until the Guemes returns to service.

Update 10.5.2018 9:48 AM

The M/V Guemes is being towed today to Foss Shipyard in Seattle for repairs to the No. 2 outdrive. Foss estimates that repairs will take approximately 2.5 days. We will know more once the vessel reaches the shipyard and Foss can examine the outdrive.

Passenger-only service will continue until the Guemes is back in service.

The vessel was taken out of service at roughly 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, when crews discovered an unexpected mechanical failure of the No. 2 outdrive.

Late Thursday evening, the ferry experienced an unexpected mechanical failure of the No. 2 outdrive. Further diagnosis will need to take place in order to determine exactly what happened. What we do know is that the car ferry will be out of service all day Friday, October 5; passenger-only service will start at 6:30 a.m. The vessel will need to be taken to a shipyard for repair, and this could take several days or more depending on the availability of a dry dock. We will update you when we have more information.
