MV Guemes back in service

Guemes Ferry Down 12.14.2018

UPDATE ~ 12.14.2018 ~ 4:18 PM

Good afternoon,

Repairs on the Guemes are complete, and the car ferry will resume service at 4:30 p.m. There was a short in the starter that caused a short in the ground cable to the battery on the number 2 main engine. Fortunately, we had spare parts on the shelf, and Ferry Mechanic Bob and Captain Kyle were able to complete the repairs in a timely manner. Dakota Creek was able to get us space at the dock and help us out with our electrical needs.

Thank you everyone for your patience. We realize this service outage was an inconvenience.

As a heads up, there is a gale warning in effect for the inland northern waters through 10:00 p.m. The national weather service is calling for SW wind 30-40 knots, easing to 10-20 knots after midnight. Wind waves at 5-7 feet are anticipated subsiding to 1-3 feet after midnight. Fortunately, we have a flood tide until about 11:30 p.m., so we do not anticipate any weather-related shut downs. However, we will keep you informed if anything changes.

Sincerely,

Captain Rachel Rowe
