Vessel Replacement Surcharge Request for Motion by County Commissioners

Good afternoon,

In advance of Monday’s meeting for a request for motion regarding the proposed vessel replacement surcharge, we wanted to get some information out for review. The final proposal will be as was outlined in Option C at the June 12 presentation to the Board of Commissioners and updated today, June 14.

The goals of this proposal were as follows:

• Incentivize punch cards
• Set surcharge amounts that are proportional
• Approach the surcharge methodically by applying percentages instead of randomly choosing dollar amounts
• Reduce, to the extent possible, major shifts in ridership habits that could affect parking or reduce revenue
• Consider deck space occupied
• Eliminate fares ending in $0.50

As a reminder, the Board of Commissioners will vote on Monday, and the public is welcome to attend.
